How to really measure the 'Francis effect'
Pope Francis has been in office for about a year now and although he hasn't changed any of the rules that are currently in place, he has managed to change the views of many simply through his words. Before now, many people had a negative view of the catholic church and the scandal that has gone on within it. The most catholic city in the country, Boston, has been affected profoundly by the new pope. Many people who have turned their backs on the church are giving it a second glance and seeing that what has for a long time been wrong with the church can still be fixed. Even though the pope hasn't changed anything within the structure of the church, the effect remains the same.
