At Airports, a Misplaced Faith in Body Language
In recent studies, it has been made apparent that airport security officials checking body language as a sign for terrorists is ineffective. There is no evidence to suggest that they have stopped any terrorists in this manner but they have managed to inconvenience many innocent travelers. They say that they can tell if a person is lying by watching for certain eye movements and other nervous body language but many experts think they should cut funding to training security officials in this technique because there is no proof of its effectiveness. The body languages themselves were even studied revealing that many of the things law enforcement officials had been taught to do were completely incorrect anyway.
